Review for the book Bully

Bullybanner

Bully
Bully is a fast paced legal thriller where "The L Word" meets "Kramer vs Kramer." Bully begins in the 1980s when courts routinely stripped LGBT parents of their parental rights solely because they were gay. Bully then shifts to the 2000s to explore a typical lesbian relationship wherein Lisa meets Windy and they quickly fall for each other, despite Lisa’s plans for a baby. Although Lisa and Windy never marry, when Lisa breaks it off because Windy reveals herself to be a deadbeat, Windy files for custody of Lisa’s daughter to fatal effect… Bully explores the legal and emotional issues faced by single parents in the LGBT community and leaves readers asking the question: what rights do parents really have? It has been said, “In a world without law, you have chaos, oppression and tyranny and everyone doing what is right in their own eyes.” Bully is that story.

My Review
5/5
I loved this book. For me it really hit home. My mom is a lesbian and was in a relationship with a woman who was lazy and when they split she tried to get custody of us. Even though she had no blood or legal relationship to us we still had to go to court.
You spend a lot of time wondering as a parent are we going to lose our kids to someone who has no right to them. Especially when you have had similar things happen. As I read this I felt like I knew what they were feeling. You connected to the characters and felt for Lisa and her daughter having to go through this.
I haven't read any books that talked about legal issues with lesbian before and I loved it. Definitely be recommending this to others.

Review
4/5
I think this is the first time I have seen a comic book of this like. It as very interesting to imagine superheros getting their powers from God. I liked how they gave each character a one page backstory. It was enough that you knew a little about them but were not bored by it. The art work looked amazing. I loved how everything was drawn it was just so great.
The story line touched on each of the characters past pain and struggles. It told a great story and managed to convey great lessons. This is somethings that parents will be hapy with their children reading!Revie
